AutoPoint DT - adding flying probe technology to YOUR test equipment
Automating the process of probing test points on a printed circuit assembly is a safe and extremely accurate alternative to manual probing. There is also a significant time savings to be realised when running the same test process automatically versus manually.
The AutoPoint - DT allows you to apply your application and test requirements to a robotic platform for automated test point access. Using the built in test probe or custom test probe, the AutoPoint - DT adds flying probe technology to your new or existing test equipment.
Tasks that were previously accomplished with time consuming manual methods can now be automated.
The high-resolution camera assures a clear view of the test points for correct probe placement and helps expedite the test set up procedure. The end result is a safer, more accurate and significantly faster test routine or troubleshooting task.
The AutoPoint - DT allows for economical, automated testing of all types of circuit cards, including complex, densely packed surface mount and throughhole boards. The precision robotic movement lets you probe points on the newest exotic chips, such as PLCC, SOIC, PGA, SSOP, TSOP, QFP and others, without the need for expensive fixturing or programming.
AutoPoint DT
AutoPoint - DT can troubleshoot boards you can't test on a bed of nails system because of pin density or physical limitations. Even if it's physically possible to build a custom test for a board, the high cost of doing so, and then programming the test routine, makes it cost prohibitive to troubleshoot in low volumes. This eliminates the cost of custom fixtures making it economical to test a large variety of boards.
The capabilities of its hardware, combined with software tools from Diagnosys and 3rd party companies, allow you to address many different and unique applications. Guided probing, measurement, stimulus and fault injection, automated optical inspection and physical switch activation are possible using this flexible platform.
Multiple test functions can be used within a single test application such as adding optical recognition to an automated keypad test.
AutoPoint - DT can be customized for your own application by developing application software.
Application examples are:
- Automatic guided probe to measure voltages or waveforms at specific points
- Automatic stimulus and fault injection to a specific point o a PCB
- Automate monitoring of temperature or EMI on a PCB in a non-invasive way
- Use as a “guided finger” to automate mechanical movements such as pressing keys on a keypad
- Use as a guided camera for basic automated optical inspection applications
