Ingeniería Integrada
Ingeniería Integrada was founded in 2004 by a group of engineers and technicians from the division of technical services of the “Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones de Colombia” aka TELECOM. This team had been sustaining and repairing TELECOM’s telecommunications network for 20 years.
In its first year Ingeniería Integrada continued to offer the same repair capacity level as its predecessor TELECOM of 300 PCBs per month; the boards consisted of 500 different types of PCBs from telecommunication technology vendors NEAX, JISCOS, REAX, and ALCATEL. It utilized hot mock-ups, and diagnostics equipment from Schlumberger and product specific solutions from GenRad.
To grow, it became evident that obsolete diagnostics equipment and time consuming hot mock-ups could hinder the vision of being a competitive electronic maintenance leader in the Latin-American telecommunications sector by year 2010. New clients began to challenge Ingeniería Integrada with a greater variety of PCBs and new PCB technology; the challenge was accepted and the plan of augmenting the technological infrastructure and technical capacity was put in motion.
By mid 2005 Diagnosys was contacted for help to support the obsolete Schlumberger S655; the result was the acquisition of one PinPoint-II System. This first PinPoint increased the repair capacity to 800 PCBs; it was used in multiple shifts. It also increased the variety of boards and technology that could be addressed to 1,500 different types. Ingeniería Integrada was able to timely respond to their customers need, and reduced the backlog.
The credit was given to the Pinpoint's extensive and accurate component library (consisting of 15,000 entries at the time), and its ability to generate schematics. In addition to the library is the user friendliness and ease of programming that made it a tool of high demand within the technical staff operating on continual shifts.
Ingenieria’s management took note, and in 2006, two more PinPoint-II, six FaultFinder PCI & Scanner and one FaultFinder VIP came in to help. In 2007 four next generation FaultFinders’ were added and the less complex ICT (in-circuit test) projects were offloaded from the PinPoint-II’s to the FaultFinder.
While 2005 and the beginning of 2006 marked a good period having peak capacity months of 1,200 PCB’s repaired per month; the end of 2006 and beginning of 2007 increased the repair capacity to 1,300 PCB’s/month and a variety now at 5,000 different PCB types. Today the monthly repair capacity is at 1,500 PCB’s per month and the variety of PCB’s is at 8,000 types. A record number of diagnostics and repairs totaling 2,167 PCB’s was achieved at the highest workload period between year 2006 and 2007.
Since acquiring the Diagnosys solutions starting in 2005 until the end of 2007 (a 3 year period) a total of 27,000 PCB’s have been repaired with a variety of 8,000 different types of PCB’s. This has been a significant achievement given that Ingeniería Integrada opened its door in 2004; this same team repaired 23,000 PCB’s over a period of 17 years under the management of TELECOM, aka ENTC.
Today the company has secure business opportunities in other industry sectors such as Industrial Manufacturing, Transportation, Textile, and Food & Beverage Packaging sectors.
Ingeniería Integrada claims that revenue earnings have been consistently increasing since it opened its doors in 2004; in 2007 the revenue earnings are reportedly doubled from 2004.
